MUSIC NATION: Major Lazer's drops new single "Cold Water" feat. Justin Beiber
Major Lazer teams their synth enthused instrumental with the smooth vocal tones of Justin Bieber, and the folksy accent of the relatively unknown artist MO (Karen Marie Ørsted); to produce the new single “Cold Water”. It seems Major Lazer have tried to recreate the success gained from the Skrillex, Diplo, and Justin Bieber collaboration in mid 2015- Where Are You Now; which skyrocketed to number 1 in Australia, and overseas.

Cold Water harnesses’ the standout R&B vocal quality of Justin Bieber that we have all become familiar with. The Major Lazer-produced instrumental is jam packed with synths, and a slow building bass, which harmonizes well with Bieber’s lyrical delivery. I found the addition of MO, didn’t really add much to the track; the 27 year old Danish native’s vocals seemed out of place within the song.
I’m personally not a fan of Major Lazer, or any kind of dance music, but I believe this is definitely a hit that will please not only Justin Bieber fans (like me) but also the mainstream masses. I still think Justin is at his best with his guitar-in- hand; but there’s no denying Cold Water will be on many people’s summer playlists.
