The John Butler Trio - Flesh and Blood

The album as a whole is no doubt a good listen, ranging from the trademark folky fingerpicking of album opener ‘Spring to Come’, through to gritty funk of ‘Livin’ in the City’ where John opens up on the ol’ electric guitar into a Hendrix-esque crescendo; And this occurs over the first two songs.

Big Day Out 2014: Round Up

And that’s how it all ended, one stage Major Lazer, a huge EDM collective, another Pearl Jam, arguably one of the biggest rock bands of the last 20 years and the Deftones, a successful alt. metal band. Quite fitting really.

Film Review: All Is Lost

As the final credits rolled, I felt completely satisfied. The film concludes without falling into any clichés and the ending itself is equal parts dramatic and graceful. All Is Lost is a fantastic look into the despair of a hopeless situation and one mans journey through it.

the GROWLERS - Gilded Pleasures EP

The Growlers' Gilded Pleasures is a great EP, however given the current popularity of nostalgia soaked rock on first listen it can lack a certain punch. However, Gilded Pleasures'  opener 'Dogheart II'  will drag you in, and the EP constantly rewards on subsequent listenings, before heading into high rotation on your playlist.

The Love Junkies - Maybelline

The Love Junkies are a Perth (Thornlie methinks?) based post-grunge three piece who hit hard, and rock equally as hard as some kind of Children Collide x Queens Of The Stone Age x Scratch Acid (melody, groove and freak outs respectively) hybrid sexy dangerous animal.

Welcome To The Valley

We were lucky enough to check out the sold out Elmar’s In The Valley venue for some food, music and most importantly alcoholic beverages before heading over to Belvoir Amphitheatre for a great mini-festival.

Parkway Drive - Capitol, 15/09/13

The Byron Bay lads dug deep through their crates and played tracks from Don’t Close Your Eyes, Killing With A Smile, Horizons, Deep Blue and Atlas. This show was mental, and for the encore, Carrion was played as the stage filled up with concert goers hanging out with the band.
